The Untitled Landscapes, an ongoing project of Sydney-based fine art photographer Chris Round, investigates surreal, colourful and mundane environments that were brought to existence through human intervention.
Whether the locations were intentionally scouted or happened upon by chance, these compelling environments show Round’s fascination for spaces that convey surreal or fictitious narratives. From empty playgrounds studded with strong geometrical forms to the stark beauty of fish-gutting slides found along breakwaters, he documents and celebrates these human-influenced landscapes without any photographic exaggeration. Deeply engaging and strangely melancholic, his oeuvres open up a dialogue between man and nature.
Throughout his portfolio, Round explores the result and impact of human engagement on various environments and topographies. His work has been recognised by numerous local and international photography competitions, and permanently resides in the Parliament NSW Collection, Macquarie Group Collection and private collections worldwide.
