If there’s a lesson we can take home from browsing the captivating portfolio of Charlotte Lapalus, it’s that following your heart is always a gamble worth taking, no matter how off-tangent it is from your current path.
The French photographer’s dramatic change of trajectory launched her from a world of law contracts to one of creative photoshoots and exotic travel assignments to places like Greece or Cyprus. Born and bred in the south of France, Charlotte often references her native Marseille and Mediterranean atmospheres in her visual narratives through rich autumnal palettes and subdued lighting. Through her genre-spanning work that includes atmospheric landscapes, punchy fashion shoots and moody portraiture we can easily point out a mood, tone and aesthetic that’s distinctly hers. Subtle and intimate, Charlotte’s evocative imagery has that nonchalant, staged-yet-completely-natural vibe many try to emulate but only a few can pull off.
