Whether you love or hate the iPhone, there’s no arguing that it’s become an essential and indispensable tool in photography. Case in point: photographers from over 139 countries submitted their best shots for the chance to be 2016’s iPhone Photography Awards winner. The ballots have been tallied, and Siyan Niu from China won the grand prize for his dramatic “Man and the Eagle”, showing a 70-year old man nose-to-nose with a majestic eagle.

With over 19 categories ranging from Food to Seasons to Portraits, browsing through the inspiring photos definitely show that the iPhone is capable of so much more than the annoying selfie – thank god for that. See the rest of the photos on the official IPPA Awards website.
