British design studio Barber Osgerby embraces its love of Venetian glass blowing in a new limited release for Galerie Kreo. Part of the Signals exhibition, the design label’s new lights utilise conical glass shapes and pair them with tall stands to create designs that will stop traffic… ahem. The collection of floor lamps, wall lamps, and pendants each displays Barber Osgerby’s penchant for ‘engineered craft’.
Each light is a combination of two separate sections created to collaborate together. Aluminium box sections provide the elongated rectangular structures from which the cones of glass can ‘bloom’. The glass elements were mouth-blown in the Vernini workshop of Murano in Venice, their delicate, translucent nature elegantly complementing their sturdier aluminium stands. As the intensity of the power shone through the bulb increases and decreases, the effect of the light fades and rises along a spectrum of color. Dynamic but delicate, they are the perfect representation of Barber Osgerby‘s ethos.
