Ever been kept awake by an intense need to know what your favorite masterpieces might look like in 3D? Sure you have, which is why you’re going to dig digital artist Omar Aqil’s new project, Mimic. Inspired by his fascination with the work of Pablo Picasso, Aqil created a set of digitally rendered 3D images of some of the artist’s most famous works.
Deconstructing the oil originals into a form of digital 3D sculpture, Aqil’s pieces add a different kind of depth to works like Seated Woman, Monument to the Spaniard and Buste de femme dans un fauteuil, creating an altered type of surreal abstraction to the famously surreal originals.
