In Colima, Mexico, the single-family dwelling dubbed House 97 by César Solórzano Arquitectos is set on a triangular plot and is dominated by a distinct industrial aesthetic in its interior and exterior.
The two-storey home is presented in a series of rectangular volumes fronted by large, favourably-angled windows that accommodate as much sunlight into the space during the day. The living room, with its double height ceiling, contemporary furniture and hanging pendant lights, is an impressive space that precedes an outdoor area, where the swimming pool and a small patch of garden serves as a convivial place for the family to gather around.
Brick walls, polished cement textures, steel staircases and touches of wood come together to create a sober yet contemporary palette. Lighting design is a prominent feature around the home; multicoloured lighting can be set and controlled as the mood and atmosphere calls for.
