Casa Lasso by RAMA Estudio Celebrates the Beauty of Open Spaces

Casa Lasso designed by RAMA Estudio as a family weekend home in San José, Ecuador. Local materials and traditional techniques was a key factor in building the home to promote the learning and practice of the Cotopaxi region’s construction systems.

The main floor is one huge open space, connecting the kitchen, dining area, master bed and bath and a communal 6-bed room together. Equipped with a system of pivoting panels that function as walls, doors, security or thermal barriers, these areas can be opened or closed off according to one’s need for privacy.  A narrow staircase leads up to the loft, a comfortable nook that offers expansive views of the surrounding landscape through the roof’s glass enclosures. Casa Lasso also prides itself on its sustainability, using internal irrigation and fertilizer systems.
