Wheeler Kearns Windsor Residence

Windsor Residence Cleanly Plays by the Rules

Strictly enforced building limitations allowed this Florida home to stand out even more. Chicago-based architectural firm Wheeler Kearns Architects made sure to follow the guidelines of the seaside community, using simple design fundamentals to create a simple yet stunning structure.

As required, Anglo-Caribbean design principles guided the design, with four pavilion volumes arranged around a central pool and courtyard. Steeply pitched windows with broad overhangs follow community regulations as well, with the architect keeping it as clean-looking as possible with defining lines and forms.

The simplistic approach draws the eyes to the symmetry of the exterior, with white masonry walls on each of the varying four pavilions. Ranging from a simple lounge area built from an exposed structure to the main living areas and dining halls, each of the pavilions has the same aesthetic consistency, with the latter having more color and design elements in the interior walls and furniture.

A number of palm trees guide the path to the main entryway and highlight the courtyard as well, arranged in neat lines to round out the clean and structured look of this winter getaway.
