Occupying the top two floors of a high rise opposite the Burj Khalifa in downtown Dubai is the headquarters of Imdad Corporate, a minimalist office space conceived by the local interior design firm VSHD.
The studio used the penthouse’s most challenging architectural elements as a starting point in designing the space. The slanting columns were left as is, their sculptural forms grounding the areas within the corporate office. Overhead, a customized sculptural light fixture of balloon-shaped bulbs hang from the double-height ceilings. A firm believer in using natural light at all costs, windows were left unobstructed as much as possible, while closed-in spaces were fitted with indirect lighting.
The minimal material palette of concrete, raw brass cladding and natural unstained oak tie in beautifully with the modular furniture that decorate the office. Pieces by mid-century designers including Pierre Jeanneret, Mies van der Rohe and Gio Ponti are eclectic additions to the contemporary space. The resulting office space highlights functionality and beauty in minimalism, inspiring bold creativity among employees and visitors in one of the most exciting cities in the world.
