The Mesh Volumes by Moisés Hernández subtly underlines the beauty of perforated metal sheets through a series of decorative containers composed of a candleholder, tray set, fruit bowl and two vases.
The Mexican designer wanted to highlight the lightness, transparency and color of the material. When placed one inside the other, made possible because of their different heights and diameter, the objects interact with the environment and expand the depth of the space they occupy. The two or three volumes end up yielding beautiful and subtle color gradients due to their transparency. Awarded the Best Use of Color Award in the last Abierto Mexicano de Diseño, the project artfully elevates utilitarian objects into sculptural forms.
Hernández set up his eponymous studio in Mexico City in 2014 after graduating from Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne in Switzerland.
