A trio of concrete table items, the Landmarks collection by Klemens Schillinger takes a cue from basic stepped architectural forms.
Triangular, circular and oval shapes were cast to resemble miniature versions of a pyramid, a circus ring and a Grecian arena, completed with tiered layers reminiscent of stepped seatings or stairs. Speaking more about his design, he explains that “They are scaled classics, but strip the architecture ancestors off to their minimal simplicity: a Circus Maximus for every apartment.” Schillinger used silicon moulds to form the accessories, adding liquid jesmonite pigments to achieve their charcoal and sandstone hues.
The freelance Viennese designer is known for his simple yet well-thought out products, design methods and ‘Do it Yourself’ projects. He has collaborated with Hem, RIM-Blackberry and Kvadrat, among others. Schillinger also teaches at the Applied Art and Design programme at Dusseldorf University’s Peter Behrens School of Arts.
