A teenager’s bedroom is always off-limits – especially to their parents – but French photographer John Thackwray was granted an all-access pass into the bedrooms of 1,200 millennials from over 55 countries for My Room Project.
Since 2010 Thackwray has been photographing young adults born circa the 80s and 90s in their rooms, documenting their personal spaces in Buddhist temples, Palestinian refugee camps or Native American reservations. Taken from above, he brings to light the little details that provide important clues to the subjects’ personalities, culture, lifestyle and tastes.
By the end of 2016, a selection of 100 photographs and interviews will be turned into a book, titled My Room: Portrait of a Generation. Pre-order your copy here.
