With its Japanese-inspired lines and arresting water features, the tranquil Mercer Island Modern by architecture studio Garret Cord Werner embraces the spirit of a Zen-like resort.
Located on Seattle’s Mercer Island, this stunning home is ingrained with water elements at every turn — ideally suited to its client, a keen swimmer. In addition to the views of Lake Washington, a water feature cuts across the floor plan from the entrance, transitioning into a lap pool within the residence’s core and ending with an infinity spa that overlooks the surrounding pine trees and lake.
Throughout, vast expanses of glazing blur the line between inside and outside, encouraging an indoor/outdoor lifestyle. The space unfolds with a material palette of polished concrete floors and wood accents, and is completed by furniture pieces chosen for their contemporary appeal.
