Casa B, Architrend Architecture, Malta
Instead of a rooftop patio, Italian studio Architrend Architecture opted for a showstopper of a pool with a glass side that offers passers-by a glimpse of blue water from street view. The pool is not Casa B’s sole atypical feature — the four-storey home proudly stands out against its neighbours with its floor-to-ceiling glass facade and contemporary materials palette.

Almost like a natural source of water one magically stumbles upon in a forest, this Singaporean residence’s water features are nothing short of breathtaking. A swimming pool, a waterfall, and a Koi Carp pond are seamlessly integrated into the architecture, which features stepped gardens and balconies overrun by greenery. The pool is a particular highlight, with its stone wall enclosure and a sunken seating area right in the water, where sun loungers seek the shade provided by the tree planted in the middle.

In Marbella, Spain, the cantilevered rooftop of the Jellyfish House houses a swimming pool — a feature that allows the beach and the sea to always be seen while sunbathing or swimming.
