A home that communes closely with nature, Casa Amapa by Mexican architecture studio Pérez Gómez sits on one of the hills in Guadalajara’s Primavera forest, a solid concrete volume that seemingly appears to emerge from the Earth.
Its most arresting feature is its expansive rooftop terrace and the accompanying views from above. Spanning the entirety of the roof, the terrace becomes a destination that adapts accordingly to one’s needs, either as a place of solace or to commune with others.
Just like Casa Amapa’s façade, the interiors dominantly feature concrete to reference a carved-out, cave-like atmosphere. The material is interrupted by several brickwork partitions and deep-set, full height windows that give the impression of living amongst the trees. “Each of the spaces of the house enjoys a frank and different view of the forest, maintaining this connection with the forest at all times,” Pérez Gómez says.
