With a philosophy based on an aversion to trends, Aska Architects’ two principles, Madeleine Klingspor and Polina Sandstrom, modelled their design for new Stockholm eatery, Café Banacado, on a range of influences culminating in a space blessed with bright, timeless energy that refuses to be attached to any one clear inspiration.
Busy yet considered, exotic yet homely, the décor at Café Banacado is loosely based on the aesthetics of Cuba. Pastel pinks and yellows are paired with checkerboard patterns, arches, and shelves that make for a melding of Scandi and Cuban design that creates an interior that looks almost good enough to eat. The stars of the show include the peachy banquets, checkerboard tables, and pink bathroom, with each element contributing to an environment that appears so perfect you could be mistaken for taking the images below as idyllic digital renderings. Café Banacado serves a dreamy ‘breakfast all day menu’ to go with its bold, international, and otherworldly interior. Follow the architecture studio on Instagram.
