Casa Santisimo was given a contemporary facelift by JJRR Arquitectura and AREA while still preserving the overall aesthetic of the structure’s stately colonial hacienda features. To create a dialogue with nature, the Mexican home was fitted with glass windows, allowing generous views of the interior courtyard and exterior gardens. Light and air flow freely throughout the house, as large swaths of areas were deliberately left open and accessible. All of the rooms allow inhabitant the family members to commune with nature, from the fantastic open living area to the bedroom and personal gym.
Wood, flattened whitewash, volcanic stone and glass were utilised by the architects to visually bridge the gap between the original home and its new extension. Casa Santisimo is an exemplary home that achieves the perfect balance between tradition and modernity.
