Amidst empty landscapes and saturated colors, the subjects of Austria-based photographer Andrea Koporova wear an expression that reflect their bleak surroundings — a perfect setting for the haunting two-part series, Ghosttown.
Shot in natural light, the photographer uses filters and post-production to manipulate the scenarios to her liking. Pumped-up orange hues and blinding turquoise tones add to the overall surreality of each image, a stark contrast to the simplicity and minimalism of her compositions.
Ghosttown is a visual narrative that explores the increasing isolation that consumes us despite the ease of connectivity in today’s world. And with her objective to “reflect human experience that will allow the spectator to reflect on their own journey” through her art, the series is the perfect fulfilment of Koporova’s artistic vision.
