Looking to wrap some fashion and design goodness up with a city break this summer? Then may we direct you to Marrakech where the awesome Yves Saint Laurent Museum is a site worth travelling for. The larger of two sites dedicated to the late designer (the other is in Paris), the new building in Morocco is a landmark architectural attraction in and of itself, filled with a with a collection of clothes, books and other exhibits that celebrate the life of Yves Saint Laurent and his love affair with the country. Built in a façade of red brick and dusty red pale red tile, the museum was the passion project of Saint Laurent’s long-term partner Pierre Bergé, with the design task falling to Paris-based architects, Studio KO.
Containing a permanent collection of art and fashion exhibits from a range of artists and designers that complement YSL, as well as a vast reference library, Africa’s first dedicated fashion museum is a pilgrimage worth making. Visit their website.
