Tadao Cern creates Hanging Paintings with fabric and a metal rack

Tadao Cern (previously featured) has created a series of original ‘paintings’ that have nothing to do with paint at all. Hanging Paintings consists of fabrics that are draped, hung or wrapped around a black metal rack, which serve as a canvas.

The Lithuanian artist states that the project came to him as a vision, inspired most probably a memory of a clothing combination or a childhood memory of his mother’s coats hanging on a closet.

“Every single piece that I did for these series felt like a revelation to me and I keep doing them over and over again,” says Cern. “What I love about them the most is that they are absolutely good-for-nothing object and that nobody ever wore them and nobody will.”
