Formafatal and Esrawe Studio Emerge As Winners at the Dezeen Awards 2020

Architecture studios Formafatal and Esrawe Studio won the coveted titles of Emerging Interior Designer and Studio of the Year respectively at the Dezeen Awards 2020.

The Mexican practice Esrawe Studio wowed a jury of 25 leading names in interior design with their portfolio of innovative and highly detailed concepts. Applying an element of surprise and innovation in their projects, which range from architecture to furniture, made them the obvious choice for the title. Esrawe Studio state that their work is “all about feeling and evolution of design, which stems from an understanding of basic physical and emotional needs of a given moment, and in each context.”

Examples of their work include the Sierra Fria House in Mexico, and the sculptural interiors of the Japanese restaurant Tori Tori Santa Fe.

Czech studio Formafatal, composed of architects, designers and scenographers and headed by Dagmar Stepanova, bagged the Emerging Interior Designer Award for their personalised approach to their commercial and residential projects.  “Individual approach for each project is based on mutual understanding with the client, enthusiasm natural collaboration and unified conceptual solutions,” says the studio.

See more of their work on their website, or read our features on the Atelier Villa in Costa Rica, and the beautiful interiors of Prague’s Autentista Wine Bar.
