Yet untouched by the strong modernization overtaking other parts of the country, a strong architectural presence of typical mountain homes still exist in the small village of Kirgiz in Uzbekisan. In this spirit, Country House KK by Uzbekistan studio ARC Architects takes its cues from tradition by using stone mined from the surrounding area as a dominant construction material, and integrating the regions’ typical features of terraces and girder floors in its structure. Inside the home, wood accents beautifully complement the stone walls, completed by locally-made furnishings and decor.
Built as a holiday home for a couple and their two children, Country House KK was designed to accommodate not just the family, but also a small guest room for visitors. Its covered outdoor patio is the dwelling’s highlight: angled favorably to provide views of Tashkent’s magnificent mountainous landscape, it is roomy enough to hold a fire pit, several lounge chairs, and an outdoor dining area, which overlooks a swimming pool – truly a place to unwind amidst nature.
