An Industrial-Style Loft in Minsk is Dressed in Black Metal and Warm Wood Elements

Located in an industrial area and occupying the top floor of a highly-sought building in Minsk is a stunning loft apartment by New York-based Zrobim Architects. Located in an industrial area, the loft finds inspiration in its surroundings through an industrial material palette and modern interiors.

The interiors unfold with all the makings of a modern loft: exposed concrete, brick walls and wood-beam ceilings. Black metal elements used for the mezzanine are diluted with warm shades of natural wood, softening the industrial-style aesthetic. Partial dividers made of glass blocks and a row of thin metal rods discreetly demarcate the entry hallway from the rest of the loft without disturbing the fluid, open-plan layout.

The program includes a kitchen that blends into the living area, and a home office hidden behind a custom-made five-meter cassette door. The second level houses the owner’s bedroom that looks over the first floor and enjoys a bird’s eye panoramic view of the city through the apartment’s five-meter high glazing. The wall of glass brings a maximum of light into the space in the daytime; in the evenings, the different zones of the loft are lit with their own lighting scenarios.

While designed for a bachelor leading a transitory lifestyle, Zrobim Architects made sure that the loft spaces could evolve over time and the client’s changing priorities.
