This groovy carpet by studio Nightshop is made of foam

    Categories: Design

Rotterdam-based studio NIGHTSHOP, who are set on investigating the boundaries between good and bad taste, have a pretty groovy carpet up their sleeves. On second thought, they can’t exactly be classified as carpets. The studio say that their Showdown Carpets are “experiments in color, pattern and material”. The gooey, candy-like patterns are achieved by piping foam onto the surface via a syringe, which is filled with colors they’ve mixed themselves. The urethane foam then expands and eventually welds together. Also note that the NIGHTSHOP team listens to Thin Lizzy while making the carpets, so the 70s vibe is no surprise.
