Seoul-based Studio PESI (which stands for Possibility, Essential, Standpoint, Interpretation) explore different industrial processes whose design orientation focuses on delivering sensitive and emotional experience to their users and audience. Their work ranges from furniture to interiors to prototypes, which have appeared in design exhibitions worldwide.
Their project On the Surface features a series of wireless charger solutions designed for Samsung, in collaboration with studio Creative Square. Presented in five forms — container, clock, mirror, speaker and tray — the studio takes the initial role of the chargers further by creating a collection that is as decorative as it is functional. Phones can be dropped on the surface of the charger, or hidden discreetly underneath. Detaching the charging wires turns each object into a minimalist table accessory. The project, the studio say, aims to elevate the banal act of phone charging into a more enjoyable user experience.
