Landscape photographer and writer Christian Hoiberg traveled to the small town of Ilulissat, the third largest city in Greenland with approximately 4500 inhabitants and roads stretching no longer than 6 kilometres.

Exploring the area by boat, Hoiberg captured the landscapes of Disko Bay in a series of breathtaking photographs, but came away from the experience with an impending fear over the current situation of the icebergs and glaciers of the area, which are melting and moving away from each other at an alarming speed over the last 10 years.

“Thought it’s beautiful to see the ice and scenery change almost on a daily basis, I couldn’t help thinking about what actually means,” Hoiberg muses. “It’s one thing to sit behind a computer and read about climate change and global warming, but it isn’t until you actually visit a place affected by it that you understand the magnitude of it.”
