Nestled in the mountains overlooking Dominical on the Costa Rica coast, the Cascada De Luz House by Studio Saxe is a stunning elemental design, its gently sloping silhouette enhancing, rather than imposing on, the glorious landscape. The home was designed to capture the essence of Costa Rica’s biodiversity, with architectural elements connecting the home to the lush surroundings and framing panoramic ocean views.
Inside, the spa-like interior provides glimpses of the ocean through the bordering trees across each level. The house is split into separate volumes, with a suspended wooden bridge over a bamboo grove leading out and up to a second level where bedrooms boast private balconies suspended above the sloping hillside and a 24-meter infinity lap pool below.
Sustainability is at the heart of the home; the roof’s sloping form collects and filters rainwater by channeling it into three large storage tanks, while photovoltaic panels provide renewable energy.
More than a home, Cascada de Luz is akin to an immersive experience, harmonizing Costa Rica’s natural beauty with luxurious living to offer a serene retreat in perfect balance with its surroundings.
