Bali’s Grün Resort Uluwatu introduces the Treehouse Villa, the latest and largest accommodation to the family-fun nature-focused luxury boutique resort. Designed by Stilt Studios, the two-storey villa is a unique combination of contemporary design, local craftsmanship, and ecological reverence.
Unsurprisingly, sustainability sits at the heart of this new project. Elevated on stilts, the volume has a reduced physical impact on the environment while offering the unique experience of living amongst the trees and waking up to views of the Indian Ocean. The villa’s thoughtful design also includes easy accesss to the resort’s gastronomic restaurants, where guests can indulge in fine dining without compromising their seclusion.
Stilt Studios created pre-fabricated building elements from readily-available, responsibly sourced materials for exterior and interiors. The villa’s wood-clad façades discreetly blend with the natural surroundings, and the architecture gives way to large outdoor terraces that promote an indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Inside, furnishings and decor from teak wood, woven rattan, and banana paper are featured prominently. “These materials are then enriched with local decorative elements, creating a warm and distinctly Indonesian ambience, reminiscent of the comfort of home,” says Stilt Studios’ lead interior designer Frans Sihombing. Treehouse Villa joins the burgeoning trend of sustainable luxury accommodations, where eco-conscious design and unforgettable experiences go hand in hand.
