QHouse 1 by Argentinian practice Social Arquitectos is a response to the urban exodus caused by the pandemic, offering an adaptable and affordable haven outside city limits. Spanning 200 square meters, this prototype —the first of the QHouse series— prioritises flexibility while maintaining a coherent, appealing, and contemporary aesthetic.
The exterior envelope combines concrete and steel frames, resulting in an efficient and distinctive home. The ground floor, predominantly concrete, is laid out in a seamless indoor-outdoor plan for its residents to carry out shared activities around a spacious island.
An internal staircase within a library leads to the upper floor flooded with natural light from a central patio. Scenic views and tranquil spaces are enjoyed from the two junior suites and a main suite overlooking a picturesque lake. A balance of functionality and aesthetics, the QHouse 1 caters to a family’s evolving needs while embracing the beauty of open spaces, ensuring a unique living experience away from the urban bustle.
