Built in a densely populated area of Bratislava, this creatively proportioned family home by Sadovsky & Architects utilises its spacious plot to merge a privacy border with the building itself. A perforated wall runs around the lot, enclosing the gardens and providing a background to the lush plantings that can be viewed from the windows throughout the two-story home. A creative version of indoor/outdoor living, the walled exterior design means privacy, as well as providing the home with an attractive sculptural element that – for us at least – brings to mind the remnants of old Soviet monuments still sprinkled throughout the Slovakian capital.
Inside, the concrete theme continues, mellowed by light wood fixtures, a striking staircase, and matte black window frames. While the main color might be the grey of the concrete, the tone within the home is one of fun, with the outside swing and swimming pool emphasising the liveability for a family with children and pets to enjoy.
