The Sprawling Hudson Valley House is a Picture of Cozy Country Living

Blending in with the local architectural vernacular of New York’s Columbia County is the Hudson Valley House, a sprawling residence conceived by Rangr Studio for a young family of four.

The social and private spaces are distributed across two intersecting volumes that form an L-shape, with the void space converted into an outdoor terrace. The rectangular wood-sided volume houses a garage, guest rooms and playroom, while the living areas and the family bedrooms reside in a shingle-clad pitched roof structure. A neutral white palette serves as a subdued backdrop to the tasteful modern furnishings that decorate the home, collectively chosen to exude an air of lived-in, comfortable elegance. The double-height living area is nestled between floor-to-ceiling glazing, offering views of the valley from both sides. A separate screened-in porch, featuring wooden walls and ceiling, is tucked into the corner of the home.

Stone steps lead guests downhill to a covered outdoor terrace overlooking an infinity pool, the lush surrounding landscape reflected on the water’s surface.

Further afield, a small independent guest house and sizeable barn round up Hudson Valley House, both in proximity to the river that borders this stunning property. More of the studio’s projects on Instagram.
