A photographer who revels in the weird and the wonderful, Alp Peker makes the perfect contributor for a Max Siedentopf project. A kindred spirit alongside Siedentopf who delights in taking a surreal, irreverent approach to photography, Peker rejects the given standards of style, gender, fashion, family and societal norms in his work. He is a 22-year old med student and photographer who lives in Turkey. In his most recent project, the photographer was commissioned to make a series of work for Siedentopf’s Ordinary Magazine, based around the concept of the plastic straw. Staging with models and a collection of plastic straws wedged together to create a snaking plastic prop, Peker’s experimental approach to the series of shots creates a strangely intimate occasion revolving around the straw.
