Masuki Rina Captures the Overgrown Beauty of the Jianqing Huaigu Trail

High in the Taipingshan National Forest Recreation area in Yilan, Taipei, the Jianqing Historic Trail is a fairy-tale escape from the familiar realities of the world. Mist covered and in possession of a sense of ethereal beauty that feels otherworldly, the area is a prized tract of forest.

The trail itself was almost destroyed in a typhoon in 2013 but the 1km left open to visitors still offers the chance to see some of the most spectacular scenery in Taiwan. The former logging area is a designated area of outstanding beauty, further enhanced by the mist that forever gathers throughout the forest.

This series of images by photographer Masuki Rina explores the old, abandoned railway tracks along the recreation trail (which was originally established in 1989). Rina’s perfectly composed shots capture the atmospheric and enchanting nature of the destination and its overgrown beauty. See more of her work on Behance and on Instagram.
