Described as a “research and development project”, Vogelzang uses beautifully coloured abstract objects to illustrate the ways in which our brain has more influence over the stomach when understanding what it means to be full. By placing these objects on a plated dish, the brain is led to believe that is it full faster than if there were only edible items. The title Volumes references the amount of food being placed in front of the eater, showing that looks and appearances can change our perceived understanding of satisfaction, and urging us to be more conscious of our nutritional choices.
