As lockdowns around the world show some signs of easing and thoughts of socializing begins to feel like a faint possibility again, the idea of what the new normal may look like is a something to ponder. For instance, once the 2-meter recommended social distancing guidelines abate, will all photos of evenings out include every member of a group in a mask? If that is to be the case, designers MARGstudio, Alessio Casciano Design, and Angeletti Ruzza Design have just the thing – an inflatable face shield available in a variety of fun, happy colors.
The product, entitled Soffio, enables friends to gather in restaurants and bars to eat and drink behind the shielding mask. Answering the brief of how to facilitate a ‘natural’ social experience, the designers explain, “Soffio creates a private environment only around the head and allows us to wear it and continue drinking and eating, the inside space is design to eat – for example – a slice of pizza or drink a glass of wine and, in the same time, look to our friend, talk and listen to other people – the mask it is fixed on the temples and leaves the ears free to hear.” Catch us in a bar wearing the Soffio in purple, sometime soon!
