London-based motion designer Marcus Chaloner explores procedural modelling using the software Houdini in a personal project titled Succulents. He delves into the tiny details of the already-tiny plant – from their amazing fractal patterns to the minute imperfections on their leaves – resulting in incredibly life-like renders.
With over 11 years in the industry, Chaloner has an impressive portfolio and client list including the likes of Adidas, BBC, Samsung and Bentley. With a keen eye for design and composition, he uses a variety of tools in his work: After Effects for traditional animation, Python development and Cinema 4D for photo-real renderings.
