After 30 years, the Zen Garden Resort in Zánka, Hungary was due for some much-needed updating and renovations. Wanting to build upon the resort’s original woodworking groundwork and methods, the new owners collaborated with Másfél Építész Stúdió to create contemporary cabins which are rooted in tradition. Taking a cue from the typical homes dotting the shores of Lake Balaton, the studio designed high-end A-frame structures as individual resort cabins. Constructed from lightweight wood, the exteriors are fully covered in natural slate cladding, strengthening the structure while emphasizing its catchy geometric shape.

The living spaces at Zen Garden Resort are thoughtfully designed to look and feel as spacious as possible. Huge windows, huge glass surfaces and an outdoor terrace bring in a maximum of natural light into the cabins and connect the guests with the getaway’s tranquil surroundings.
