Taking a generous approach to a generous space, studio Lenka Míková Architekti transformed the entire floor of a 1920s refurbished residential building in Prague’s Old Town into a contemporary apartment suited to an unpretentious, simplistic and almost minimalistic lifestyle.
The large social area hosts the living room, a furniture wall with a fireplace, a hidden TV and bar area, kitchen and dining room, and an office. Large windows look out to the street, letting in a good dose of natural light into the space when not lit up by the modern lighting fixtures by Studio Dechem that dot the ceilings and hang over the kitchen counter.
While the social zone is a display of muted hues and white walls, moving further into the private wing reveals bright splashes of color that give each piece a unique character: the cool mustard shade of a built-in closet, the dark blues that dominate the guest bathroom, the scintillating reds of the powder room, the cool beiges of the master bedroom. Underfoot, the solid dyed oak wood floors unify the whole apartment, interrupted by the custom-cut stone kitchen tiles and the marble floors of the bathrooms.
The bespoke components, built-in furniture and tasteful decor tie the entire apartment together, creating a space where every element was a deliberate attempt to complement its resident’s lifestyle. The project was completed in 2021.
