Tucked away in a serene location in the woods of Waco, Texas, The Nook is the latest creation from experiential hospitality developer and artist Isaac French. Known for designing unique micro-resorts and artistic stays, French has crafted this secluded retreat as both an office and guest sanctuary—a space where art, nature, and functionality merge.
This 350-square-foot cabin balances modern simplicity with nature-inspired elements, blending charred Japanese cedar cladding on the exterior with rich white oak finishes inside. Locally sourced Texas limestone adds an earthy texture, seamlessly connecting the structure to its forested surroundings. An abundance of glass enhances the natural light, creating an open feel with big windows that frame views of the lush landscape.
Perched above a nearby creek on a floating, cantilevered deck, The Nook encourages its visitors to escape into nature – without sacrificing luxury or design. From the efficient layout to the curated materials, each detail reflects the meticulous craftsmanship and design of this rural escape.
