The Ikea Museum Releases Digital Versions of Every Catalogue Since 1951

    Categories: Design

If you happened to be looking for a fool proof way to track the trends that have shifted through interior design over the years, Ikea are here to help. Having just released digital versions of every single one of its catalogues since 1951, the Swedish company has laid out the long lineage of Scandi mass design in full color. From bean bags to Billy’s, the birth of plastics to affordable modernist furniture, Ikea more than any other company, can record the changing desires of consumerist interior design.

The digital magazines are hosted on the Ikea Museum website, so you can simply click on a year to browse the edition you want. Perhaps most striking is linking the products that have evolved over the decades, or even those mid-century pieces that are almost identical in 2020 to the initial release in, say, 1959. Check out the Ikea Museum here for a trip down memory lane.
