Iberian Architecture by Carsten Witte

Hamburg-based photographer Carsten Witte captures the sweeping lines, glorious forms and gentle curves of Iberian architecture’s best in his latest project. Witte has the uncanny ability to pick out the most interesting features of a structure and highlight its textures, colors and layers in a completely refreshing way.

The series Iberian Architecture was shot around Bilbao, Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia and Lisbon. Forgoing the customary formats of architectural photography, Witte adds a contemporary aspect to his images by editing and playing around with various effects to create a deconstructed, abstract version of the buildings. And the gamble pays off : he straddles the line between photography and art with images that end up looking like paintings.

Witte’s work has been featured in editorials for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, GQ and Leica International, among others. Follow him on his website and Instagram.
