Designed to be driven in parts to its location, where construction is a mere matter of arranging the pre-fabricated parts together, the beautiful Hinterhouse stands out from the ever growing crowd of pre-fab houses on the market. Granted, the location is part of the charm in this case (not every home can find a secluded spot in a forest), but the 16-foot wide design’s clean lines and use of handsome wood throughout its chic interiors would make it an appealing home pretty much anywhere. Located in a densely forested area of Canadian wilderness, the Hinterhouse has two bedrooms, one bath, and an open living space across 930 square feet. Slatted wood covers the exterior of the single-story build, with the presence of wood extending inside with wood panelled walls and ceilings adding a degree of warmth to concrete floors.
Designed by Menard Dworkind Architecture, the modular home was created for the Hintercompany, which offers architecturally interesting spaces hidden in wild locations. Guests can stay at the Hinterhouse – which includes a private forest sauna – and for every booking the company will plant ten trees in a move to contribute to the environment it celebrates.
