Located in the Yanshan Mountains and boasting views of the Jinshanling Great Wall, Hilltop Gallery by dEEP Architects was greatly inspired by the curves and shapes of the natural mountainous terrain it’s built upon. “Leaning hills and taking advantage of the trend” was the principle adapted by the architects for the project — its traditional architecture was constructed with the help of high-tech digital support. “The design and construction of the Hilltop Gallery is another newer attempt to present digital design methods in the Chinese context,” dEEP Architecture say.
Set against pine trees and mountainous landscapes, the 1500 square meter building hosts not just art, but also cultural projects, exhibitions and receptions. Inside, a looping staircase leads to several floors and numerous halls that can cater to super-sized installations thanks to its triple-height space.
