Built into the sweeping curve of a lake shoreline, the CLT House from studio Hello Wood is a beautiful example of how to create a home that positively affects its natural environment. Located in the Hungarian countryside, the home seamlessly integrates itself with the natural surroundings, its use of sustainable materials the key to creating a connection with the land. Surrounded by verdant rural landscapes, the single-level home cuts a mysterious figure, built into the riverbank to leave few clues of its presence. Cleverly concealed with a green rooftop, the home becomes one with the landscape.
A 135 square-meter terrace meets the water’s edge, constructed from wood which blends seamlessly with the interior materials. Concrete pillars that hold the weight of the grass roof are left exposed, their textured aesthetic complementing the finely crafted wooden detail of the home.
Behind its wood slat façade – charred with the yakisugi technique – its open interiors prioritize views of the lake. The house features a large living area, bedroom, sleek kitchen, and a minimalist bathroom along with a guest room retreat. Check out the images below.
