Awash in light and one with nature, the Forest House is the ideal escape from all the distractions and noise of city life. Yearning for a family retreat in the forested hills of Northern California, architecture studio Envelope A+D built its clients a cluster of black clad cabins— three rooms and a living-dining room — that are interconnected to each other via walkways and wooden paths.
Raised on stilts, Forest House playfully mimics treehouse-living. To connect with its natural settings, the house invitingly opens itself up to nature: the porch floor makes way to incorporate tree trunks, while huge glass windows can be flung wide open to stunning views of the surrounding verdure.
With its rustic charm, warm wood interiors and minimal land impact, we couldn’t imagine a more perfect city getaway than this place.
