The strategic industrial design agency Layer have released the Cradle Chair collection in collaboration with Moroso: a series of unique chairs that turns the topologies of two seating options into one.
Somewhere between a hammock and a lounge chair, Cradle’s backrest uses a three-dimensional stretch textile developed by Layer in collaboration with an Australian textile factory; it conforms to the user’s shape and weight, assuring a comfortable experience. “The knitted textile has high strength but low density, delivering the necessary ergonomic support for the body using a fraction of the material of a traditional mesh,” state the studio. The colorful, high- and low-backrest chairs are contemporary pieces that would make any room they’re in enviable.
Led by Benjamin Hubert, the UK-based studio tackles projects that range from app design, wearables, smart appliances, to intelligent furniture systems, creating products that meet the demands of tomorrow today. See more on www.layerdesign.com.
