ShineMaker CLB Architects Wyoming

This New Wyoming Residence is a Captivating Blend of Comfort and Luxury

This remarkable new mountain home, which stands amidst the picturesque landscapes of Wilson, Wyoming, is the latest build by CLB Architects. Envisioned as a creative haven for a California-based couple, this retreat, dubbed The ShineMaker, spans 35 acres at the foothills of the Tetons, seamlessly blending into its diverse surroundings of old-growth forests, aspen groves, and rolling meadows.

The studio crafted three distinct structures to house its clients’ day-to-day activities and creative ventures — a main house, a guest house, and a writer’s studio. The design ethos revolves around simplicity and integration with nature.

The main volume mimics the rugged geology of the landscape, while the two other structures are nestled intimately within the wooded enclave. Each structure is wrapped in a charred shou sugi ban exterior. Light filters through floor-to-ceiling windows to illuminate the warm hues of cedar and limestone and the natural materials palette chosen for the rest of the home: wood, steel, and oversized slabs of travertine and onyx.

With sweeping vistas of the Grand Tetons and meticulously crafted interiors by San Francisco-based HSH Interiors, every aspect of this retreat caters to tranquillity and refinement. Beautiful artisanal details are revealed upon entry, including customised concrete reliefs and hand-painted wallpaper murals — elements that reflect the homeowners’ bohemian lifestyle, love for nature, and creative spirit. The result is a captivating blend of comfort and luxury.
