Located amongst the rocky terrain of the island of Corsica, the Casa R house by Orma Architettura utilizes a concept of concrete blocks to endear itself to the surrounding landscape. With money and space each a constraint, the Casa R project was designed with minimalism in mind, with the simple volume of sandblasted concrete saving on costs and matching its neatly exposed aggregate to the grey, sandy rocks that litter the countryside around the home.
Intrigue is injected with a collection of mismatched windows whose different volumes add the appearance of multiple levels to the exterior. Light wood, polished concrete, and muted tones combine to add a beautiful simplicity to the open, airy spaces inside a home we would be happy to escape to.
