The Black House by Buero Wagner Architecture maximises its cozy 80-square meter (861 square feet) footprint in southwest Munich through smart space repartitions and multi-height levels on an open-plan layout.
A bedroom and bath are designated to the basement floor, though not without natural light from the windows affixed halfway along the ground level. Wooden steps lead dwellers to the kitchen and living areas, their varying heights lending the home its atypical charm. To complement its charred wood exterior, the studio used materials of oiled oak and sandblasted concrete to brighten up the space in addition to the impressive pivoting glass doors opening up to a cemented outdoor terrace. Touches of black for kitchen and bath fixtures or light switches neatly tie the Black House’s indoor and outdoor aesthetics together. More from Buero Wagner Architecture here.
