Artist Mar Cuervo‘s interest in delectable cakes, pastries, and dessert in general goes beyond gastronomy. Her latest project, Destroyer, shows her pummeling her fist into sponge cakes, squeezing the life out of a plate of jello, or flattening cream-filled cupcakes in GIF glory.
Apparently, the softness and fragility of these ‘edible objects’ started calling out to the Spanish artist, just begging to be destroyed. “I used my anger to raise against our society’s fear of the power of anger and against its obsession with perfection. Anger is usually silenced and avoided as an ostracized and negative feeling, but it is probably the strongest feeling we have and the one that makes us change things,” she explains.
